in a town with massive health problems - we need to help more people not scare them off
We need to make sure that when people are brave enough to enter a gym, its a positive experience, not a frightening experience because they feel they are been mocked or even worse, people making fun of them, making gyms totally intimidating places to be, as if they are not already for those that are in desperate need of help.
Hartlepools is one of the unhealthiest towns in the UK, massive obesity problems, and a small town with plenty of narrow mindedness, but those that really need help with their weight and health find walking into any gym something that they would rather not do, because they think these places are just full of really fit people and thats the last place anybody thats feeling this way wants to be, even tho if they honest most would admit that they would benefit from been in such a place, a place where you would think that they could get real help. Unfortunately how the fitness industry is in the uk and especially the commercial gym set up, then this just isn't the case, one of the reason that obesity climbs and the fitness industry is failing people. One thing that we do in our fitness business is make sure that no matter who comes in then everybody is made to feel very welcome and very comfortable in their new surroundings, we have a zero tolerance approach to anybody stepping out of line with what our business stands for which is helping people become better, healthier, happier versions of theirselves through health and fitness and also through the associations of others, that all have the same goals, simply to be better and healthier than we were . Before signing any gym membership, go and have a look round, go meet people, ask for a trail session to see if your comfortable there, any gym that's really serious about helping you will offer you this, how else will we be able to really help those that need it if we don't start making gyms friendlier places to be, making them more appealing to those that are petrified of asking for help if we cant even get them through the gym doors, and if they do get through the doors there has got to be a level of friendliness and real help awaiting them. So this January or any other month that you find anybody thats new struggling, go offer them help and encouragement, don't make fun anybody trying to improve their self and become a better, healthier, happier version of themselves.

you don't have to make crazy grand gestures to lose weight
Before you decide to go crazy this week or maybe next, joining a gym, stoping eating, or maybe sucking on ice cubes and lettuce leaves, just to try and lose a little weight, ya need to take a few deep breathes and calm yaself right down, it really doesn't have to be like this, all to lose weight.
No need to go throwing everything but the kitchen sink at your weight loss, especially after xmas were you obviously over indulged and now you going to get back to eating whats normal for you, and now you decide to start exercising, just exercising alone means your going to start burning more calories off than your used to, and this on its own will start to help you lose weight, without removing every little thing you enjoy eating. If your serious about long term weight loss then what you do now has to be sustainable, so you see why throwing everything at weight loss right now, excessive exercise, removing your favourite foods, will not last, its not sustainable. What you do now does not have to be excessive, you can't expect to make life long changes in days or weeks, if its taken you a lifetime of building bad habits then they are not going to be broken or rebuilt in such a short time frame, its just not gonna happen regardless of how much you want it too, its gonna take time to start building new habits and thats done by taking small daily steps, daily steps of doing whats going to take you forward, closer to your goals, if that means you exercise every other day because thats sustainable for you then thats ok, if its twice a week thats fine also, if you then decide your now moving a little more and you want to start eating a little better ( less than your used to ) then start doing this daily, but remember everything you do must be sustainable, forget about clean eating, and food been healthy and good and bad, its too much for you to process all at once when starting your weight loss journey. Start by making what ever you do as easy as possible for you to be able to follow it, trust me this process will remove all the pressure from following some stupidly restrictive structured diet plan, just think how many times you have tried the chucking everything at weight loss and how many times you have quit in double quick time and then ask yourself why? was it all too much for you ? thought so. And if you still can't do this on your own or wanna save time doing it and want expert help then this could be for you Personal Training The Fitness Industry Grows - So Does Poor Health, Illness & Obesity
How can an industry get it so wrong, an industry worth billions and growing and an industry which should be at the fore front of helping people battle obesity, illness and poor health, yet its more concerned with who is the most shredded, strongest, smartest, famous, its a joke. You have personal trainers, the very people that those that need help turn to petrified of telling the truth when it comes to everything that it will take to change somebodies life, they focus on how much profit they can instantly make now instead of focusing on what its gonna take long term, they scared to discuss this thinking that people want instant results now, so they all turn into raving liars, and the once the first lie has been told its easy to them start selling crazy detox kits and the rest of the fad diets that these trainer types then turn to, to make even quicker cash, already thinking that i will get what i can now cos i haven't been honest about what its gonna take long term to have real success so i will focus on just making a sale like the internet marketers tell ya to do
Think about it, you have these guys and girls half naked on their social media accounts talking about beasting the gym and how they meal prepped 30 perfect meals because it fits in with their perfect little lives and that's why they look amazing because they do what it takes and that you should do the same and you too could be like them, the only problem is Mr & Mrs smith that are both obese don't ever want to go any where near a gym because they think they filled wit people like this and that's so far right from the position they find themselves in now, do you honesty think its inspiring them ? They don't ever want to be anything like this, they just don't want to be obese any more, they just want to lose weight and they want somebody to guide them in how to do this, right now they actually couldn't think of anything worse than been beasted in the gym not been able to breathe thinking they are about to die surrounded by loads of fit ripped people, or have to make 30 meals of chicken and broccoli when they like living on pizza and ice cream, come on this is ridiculous think about it, how are we really meant to help people if they think gyms are just exclusively like this, and lets be honest, most commercial gyms are full of these types of people that are are taking selfies every 20 seconds in between getting their swole on and adjusting their hair to make sure its perfect like them, not forgetting the tightest pair of leggings and then making your ass stick as far out as you can for the camera shouting bootie gains..... This is the exact opposite of what you will find in our fitness business, i cant stress enough how people that are under our roof are all there to become a better healthier version of themselves now, not to be ripped, of superman strong, just to be better, to feel better, to be able to move better, we are here to improve all areas of peoples lives, we are not your average gym, there are enough of them around theses days, our fitness business is completely unique, what we offer, what we do, you wont find it in other gym businesses. The majority of people that have ever signed up to our Personal Training have did so just to lose weight and become healthier, that's it, and people come in at all different shapes and sizes and levels of health, but each and everyone of them are their for the same reasons. Gyms don't have to be scary places for those that aren't naturally comfortable there, you just have to find the right one, the one that can help you from the place you are now, not make everything seem completely alien too you and your lifestyle enough to scare you away. motivation may get you started but............ Motivation never got anybody to their destination, that's right, motivation comes and it goes and if your relying on it to transform your life through starting yet another diet or health and fitness journey in 2018 then i am sorry to tell you that it's going to fail you.
Inside of our Hartlepool fitness business we have been helping people change their lives for the last 17 years through our programs, and i can tell you right now that not 1 person has accomplished this using motivation. Some say that motivation gets you started, I'd say that's incorrect too, what gets people started is a why, and that why has to be all empowering, it has to be everything to you, i know i used to be over 300lbs. What got me started back when i was 300lbs was hitting rock bottom and finding my why whilst i was down there. I was unhappy where i found myself in life, eating my way into an early grave and some serious health issues to boot. I didn't want to have serious health issues or face dying at an early age, yes it took something traumatic at the time to give me this realization but i can say that even back then i knew at that time it was the best thing to ever happen to me. It was strange because i was going through something that to most would be a really challenging time, in fact it breaks some people, but all the while i had this calm about me that knew something good was about to come out of it, i guess i always knew but i wasn't man enough to admit that what was going on in my life wasn't what i wanted, i didn't dare stand up and say this isn't me, this is not who i am, this is not who I'll become, I'm outta here, all because i didn't want to upset others or hurt them in anyway, yet i was hurting myself. Not at any point at rock bottom was i motivated, motivation did not get me started to go lose over 100lbs, what did get me started was my why, i wanted to live, and i wanted to live a life on my terms. Yes many times during my transformation i was motivated, who wouldn't be looking in the mirror and seeing crazy changes and every time i stepped on the scales i was losing weight, but my why was always there with me, never left, unlike motivation, because yes of course i had days when i wasn't motivated to do the work required, but my why was so strong i did the work anyway. So before starting anything - ask yourself, whats your why ? Bootcamp Personal Training Gym Membership if you want something - hang out with those that already have it and learn how to get itThey say that if you want to know how to do something then ask those that are already doing it, if you want something and you know people that have what you want then you ask those that have it how they got it, doesn't it make sense then if weight loss is your goal then you go to them that are the best at doing weight loss, if you wanna be fit then you go hang out with fit people, if you wanna be better at yoga then ya go hang out with some yogi experts, this doesn't have to be rocket science .
Hows about if you are sick of dieting and you know of people losing crazy amounts of weight and making life changing transformations without dieting then wouldn't you wanna go hang out with them guys and girls ? So then you can go do the same, that makes sense yea ? Ya might not know this about our fitness business but or main expertise is in helping people transform their lives through weight loss and health & fitness, I mean if you listen to the local grapevine and believe what others have to say about independent gyms then you would believe that these are places where hardcore trainers and bodybuilders hang out, only our gym has never ever been like this, and the majority of independent gyms are places filled full of real knowledge and real expertise, the exact opposite of commercial gym chains and pretty much every independent gym I've ever been in have all been super friendly, the same can't be said for them large places with the atmosphere of a morgue. I was speaking just this morning with a guy thats now a friend as well as somebody that I coach through my personal training program, I started coaching his wife and thats how we met, his wife changed her life by losing over 6st and become super fit and healthy and transformed so he wanted to do the same, he said this morning - Ian you have changed both our lives, your gym is an amazing place, keep working hard because we wouldn't be here now without you and the gym. Now Steve and Claire are also parents, can you imagine the difference made to this family unit because mom and dad have changed. Both transformed because Claire joined my personal training program and her husband seen this first hand so he came to exactly the same place and did exactly the same thing. Not rocket sciecne is it. 17 Years later, it's snowing, just like it was the day i got the keys to my gym businessToday is just bringing back so many memories, 17 years ago after doing the deal to buy my fitness business i got the keys and it was snowing just like it is today. I remember coming into a freezing cold gym, there was no heating, the gym has a high roof which is metal sheeting, not great for retaining any type of heat when you don't have any to begin with, there was pages of old flex and bodybuilding magazines stuck all over the walls, duck tape holding the carpet together, and plenty of old iron that made up the machinery and dumbells. The gym was a workman like gym, its always had a great atmosphere, but it was very masculine to say the least, very few if any women trained here, i can remember 2 ladies but that's about it, it was a guys gym, as you approached the gym it really didn't even have a front door to speak off, it was an old iron clad door that was held back with an old iron plate that led to a dark damp stairway, looking up them stairs was very intimidating, especially with the sound of iron banging and clanging behind some walls, that had not 1 but 2 doors to go through before entering the gym. This was the type of gym that if you already knew how to train, you came and got on with it. 17 Years later we have built a very different fitness business, no longer do we class our-self just as a gym business, there are plenty of them around, and look how that's working out, gyms full of people making zero progress, what we do and what we have become is a coaching business, we specialize in helping people, nobody is ever left alone to struggle on their own, so if your the type of person that doesn't know what you are doing in a gym and needs help, then we may be for you. Our gym is made up of majority women inside of our actual coaching business now, the guys still make up the majority of those gym members that train themselves although like i said, nobody at all is left alone to make no progress. We were Hartlepool's very first Bootcamp, long before they became cool, our large group training program was made so we had the ability to help more people and to also give those that liked the thought of working out with other like minded people the chance to do this, girls like working out together and this actually happens to speed up results too. This brought a lot more women in to train and opened up ladies minds to actually weight training as opposed to girls just spending all their time doing cardio, nobody else at all was offering ladies the chance to be able to weight train in a coached environment, we led this way with this locally a very long time ago, now its the in thing for girls to be lifting, but we still offer the best coached environment to do this. We plan on making the next 17 years just as successful as the last and keep on innovating and bringing the best coaching programs for people to be able to make progress with their health and fitness, and remember if you need help because you don't know what to do yourself in a gym, then come see us, we might be a good fit for each other.
having a great relationship with food should be normal Unfortunately for most now that's just not the case, with obesity and been over weight ruining the population of the planet and now everybody you speak to on some type of diet, peoples relationships with food are as now bizarre as they are complex.
Yet even more crazy is that the very people you turn to, personal trainers, bootcamps and gyms are ruining your relationship further, with the terminology they use and they practices they have you do. Since when did food become bad, or sinful, or good or even super, because no single food has the ability to be anything of the sort, unless you of course have some type of allergy, but that's not what we are discussing here, nor is any single food gonna give you superman like health, we need to stop attaching crazy meanings to food, its not helping, no burger ever cheated on you so its committed no sin. If we take and look at weight loss, what causes weigh loss ? - Been in a calorie deficit What will it take for us to be able to adhere to been in a calorie deficit long term, to be able to be successful with weight loss and may I add keep that weight off ? - Sustainability So then why would we eat in a way that we know is gonna set us up to fail long term, what if we simply became accountable for the amount we eat, over eating, over consuming calories causes weight gain they same way eating less causes weight loss. Then we have personal trainers preaching to you about meal prepping, a pet hate right now, and yes I used to be one of them obsessed types that wouldn't leave the house without all my meals prepped for the day ahead, I used to spend hours batch cooking, but I had reason for this, I used to be obese and when I went and lost over 100lbs I did it in such a regimented way that I developed just as many bad habits as I did when I became over weight. You can only imagine how I used to freak out when I couldn't prep, hardly a way to live and certainly not sustainable . I remember turning many dates down when id lost over 100lbs and become a little desirbale to females again, what a knob I must have sounded when I said couldn't possibly go out for a meal, how would I know what I was eating, it wasn't my high carb day, yes I actually said that, what a twat, sounded like a bigger twat, all because id developed bad habits, and built bad relationships with food in the process, all because id become so scared of regaining any weight if I didn't meal prep. Whats even more crazy is that the very process that I thought helped me lose weight ( which was because of a calorie deficit by the way ) eventually led me to gaining weight anyway, I mean yes I never went anywhere near where I used to be, but once id got sick of living like a fxxking monk and finally found myself in a serious relationship id had enough and wanted normality. Having to rebuild my relationship with food took time, not to mention the metabolism needed some help ( a story for another time ) but figuring out that I didnt need to live that way was a real turning point in my life and in the future been able to help coach others not make the mistakes I did, I guess because we had no internet or very slow dial up and no social media access to real information was harder to come by back then, where as now there is an abundance but crazy enough people don't want to actually believe what it actually can take to lose weight and keep it off and have good health, they believe all the bullshit and quick fix fad diets that come along that will help instal their belief further that weight loss is hard and you must adhere to living like a monk to lose weight, not been able to have a life. It just really doesn't have to be this way, I can say after been through several weight loss cycles the easiest I've ever lost weight is right now, I've currently just lost 3st just to show that I can eat what I want as long as I'm in a calorie deficit, I've never been fitter, healthier or happier, not a bad way to be after losing some weight. Thats why my coaching programs, my bootcamp and my unlimited personal training groups are all taught about why and how to make weight loss sustainable and that we don't have to ever fucking meal prep, that means no break downs when your partners want to go out for a meal or worse still, you have to take a family holiday, god forbid the holiday, you can't meal prep and now your going to gain crazy amounts of weight, I actually know of one of these personal trainers that really did take a set of weighing scales on holiday......seriously, crazy or what. I'm proud of the fact that my fitness business, my gym business leads the way in hartlepool in teaching people how to build great habits thats sustainable and that all the family benefits from, regardless of if its mam, dad, son or daughter that I help. Stop the crazy practices and terminology and find something that you can easily stick to doing, and if you can't do it alone, get some help, save yourself valuable life time to be able to go enjoy yourself. Are you really prepared for the new you ? Its that time of year again when everybody starts with the, new year new me talk, but by the end of January for most nothing will again change, everything has gone back to the way it was, the positivity and the motivation has now started to disappear and all your left with is the reality of the plans and structure that you didn't put in place.
So before the new year new me even begins, have you got real with where you are right now and what its really gonna take to make any real change, are you been completely honest with that conversation, that conversation will be painful when your been completely honest, it may take a while, its not something that should be taken lightly, and it wont be quick either, take some time with yourself, have a pen and a note pad and right some stuff down, let it all come out, write down what its gonna take for you to really make changes, do you need help to make them changes, the reality is that its going to take even more than you think it is. Lets take weight loss as its something most come out with in the first week of January, how many years have now passed that you have said the same thing but nothing ever happened, why didn't it happen ? Do you really know how to lose weight ? If you don't, why do you keep struggling alone, trying and failing and trying and failing again and again, wouldn't it be better, and make more sense for you to ask for help ? Why don't you ask for help ? Write this down, and be completely honest, and if you have written you cant afford help, ask yourself is that the truth, is their areas in your life that you can make sacrifices to get help, because I'm certain that for most people you can actually afford help of some description, we live in times of massive waste in all areas of our lives, we need to learn to prioritize whats actually important, is your health, happiness and life important to you, do others depend on you, are you the very best version of you ? To move forward and build something new that's gonna be sustainable and long lasting then we have to build with solid foundations, them very foundations are going to be the truths as to where you are now, why and how you got there and what its gonna take for you to move forward and create lasting change......or you can just carry on as you are, and whats got you to where you are now, keep doing. CHANGE IS A CHOICE how many are about to start looking for gyms, bootcamps, personal trainers & Diets ? What if i told you that the very thing you seek is already setting you up to fail ? Why are so many people over weight that still go to gyms looking for this very thing.
Why are you not looking for the end results, the very thing you dream of having, you don't dream of having a 1-1 training session with a personal trainer nor do you dream to be put on some unrealistic diet plan that you know that you could never stick to, yet you still look for the cheapest hourly rate, the trainer that's dishing diet plans out like they free bags for life from ya local supermarket, instead of looking for the results you say that you want. We don't do per sessions, we don't do diet plans, what our Bootcamp does is give you access to information, education, guidance, experience, proven track record of outstanding results from ladies just like you that is reading this, you don't have to be some gym lover, but you have to want different from what you have now , you have to want better health, to be fitter mind and body, to have a great relationship with food and exercise, there is no magic short cuts here, this will not be easy, if it was easy everybody would be doing it and they not. I'll leave this here before i share what some of our ladies think - many that start gyms, fitness classes, groups, bootcamps and personal training are going to fail simply due to lack of association, the lack of association alone means there is no long term in what you are doing, something that we put right at the top of what we do and something that comes across massively in what you are about to read. "This is the best bootcamp I have ever been too and would not go anywhere else. From helping with nutritional advice right from the start that is best for u to fit round your own lifestyle which does not mean cutting anything out that you enjoy and still lose weight/inches. Not forgetting the girls who are amazing and will push each other every session and are now friends for life, u won't get this amazing atmosphere in any other gym guaranteed" - Nicola "Ian Glass Fitness, ladies this Bootcamp/Gym is basically a no brainer, Ive now been with Ian and his team for a few years and wouldn't dream of stepping into another gym. The friendships are amazing with the girls and team. My fitness and health is now better than ever. The help you get throughout is second to none. The teamwork is unreal to push, get you through and to achieve. Love it X" - Joanne "I joined Ian Glass ladies bootcamp a year ago as I wanted to be fitter and loose weight. I had never done this type of exercise before and found it very enjoyable with a great group of like minded women. The motivation and support within the group is amazing. We do work hard but have fun too. Ian makes sure you are working at a pace which is within your capabilities, but also will allow you to progress. This has given me a new perspective on exercise and life. Also it's given me confidence to try other activities outside the gym. Give this a try, challenge yourself- you may love it too." - Andrea enjoy xmas - stop stressing - nobody ever became overweight in 1 day As if people in the crazy industry of fitness are actually coming up with plans and programs for sale to help you not to gain weight over Xmas, like anybody ever became over weight in 1 day, regardless of how many days holidays your taking, Xmas comes down to 1 day, the rest are just a day like any other and if your going to over eat & drink then the likely hood is that this is your normal behavior anyways.
Its crazy that they reckon 5 out of 10 Brits are drunk before the turkey even comes out the oven, i mean i don't know who goes around and collects this type of information, but its not something that i think should ever be accepted as been normal behavior, that aside having some type of program to follow Xmas day that's not normal either, i think even id take to drinking and i don't drink ! I personally couldn't think of anything worse than telling people that they must follow some strict protocol of a program whilst trying to enjoy the holidays with their loved ones and family and friends, regardless of what program our gym family members are in, Personal Training or Bootcamp nobody at all is ever told that they shouldn't be eating or drinking anything, that's just not how we do things, we make been accountable top of what we teach, you are accountable for your actions, giving all an understanding of what it takes to deliver the results they say they want, and we spend our time working towards those results, not stressing over 1 day thinking that its going to make a massive difference, maybe it doesn't make no difference to those we help because they are never restricted from anything, changing peoples behaviors is an integral part of been able to successfully transform people, something we have done very successfully for nearly 2 decades, nothing should be forced, no forcing no diet principles onto anybody, after all the most successful diet is the one that you can stick too, plus we don't even use the term diet in our programs, just another little behavioral change, a mindset shift to be able to take people away from the whole diet prison. Stressing out over Xmas - a sure fire way of gaining some weight, try relaxing a little - like you have the rest of the year......... I'm sure come January the new you will show up. PS, if you need help with the whole new you thing, don't forget we have some very very successful programs Bootcamp Personal Training |
