THE AVERAGE TIME IN THE FITNESS INDUSTRY FOR MOST IS LESS THAN 12 MONTHS
Its crazy in times like these were more and more people are in need of help with their weight and health, and becoming a personal trainer is easier than its ever been, that the life span of a personal trainer is less than 12 months, then they have left the industry, not forgetting that they earned less than somebody that works in McDonald's, crazy when they have the ability ( maybe ) to help transform somebodies life.
I'm certain that the fitness industry is definitely losing some great young people and maybe older ones to that are coming into the industry later in life, which is sad when they might genuinely have a talent for helping others, but he industry has beat them down real quick and realization has set in that the job is a lot harder than simply been able to put somebody through a workout.
The easiest way into the industry is through commercial gym chains but that's probably one of the reasons why so many quit so soon. The 16 hour days, the hours they have to work for the gym itself, the crazy rent they have to pay, that's all before finding clients that the other 20 pt's in the same gym are all trying to get, its the constant hustle of trying to find new clients, any clients that are going to pay you just so you can survive, is that what you came into this industry for, to be a slave and just trying to survive whilst your friends are out enjoying life yet all you wanted to do was help people, and make a difference and if you got into the industry for any other reason than to help people your here for the wrong reasons anyway.
As trainers and coaches we are bombarded with social media business experts telling you how to market and make more money yet this also leads to been another reason why pt's end up walking away to soon, how many 12 week transformation packages are you going to sell before people realize you aint genuinely changing anybody in just 12 weeks, how many 4 week shred packages ? how many burn fat with this amazing new workout ? yes they all sound great and marketers do a great job at dressing them up and helping you sell them but if you have single shred of moral code you know that's all this is, marketing, you aint really helping those that need help with this type of marketing, i know the truth aint sexy and may not sell as well in the beginning, but i can tell you that been honest with people about what its gonna take long term to really help somebody change their life will guarantee you that your not leaving the industry in less than 12 months, in fact your gonna be so different from what anybody else is doing as are your results that your marketing has just taken care of itself.
A company that recently reviewed our website said this
" just one look at Ian's reviews and you realize that he doesn't need any fancy gimmicks or marketing, his results speak for themselves "
Now i may never become a social media household name, but that was my intention, my intentions were to be able to help people transform their lives through health & fitness and that's exactly what Ive been doing for the last 17 years and made a great career doing so, which will continue to grow through been honest about what it takes to help people and then go help them.
So before you go looking for Personal Training remember the marketing may sound amazing, but if it sounds to good to be true, the likely hood is........... it is
